- Chosen by Voters 1. Try getting a color swatch. Some paint companies offer that. It's a temporary square of color that you put on your wall so you can see how it looks without committing to a color that you'll end up hating. My suggestion is to get a color swatch and put it on a part of your wall where the sunlight hits, so you'll see how the color really looks.2. Pick a color that you're sure you won't get tired of. For a happy color, try cerulean blue or a really nice pink. Or go for a pumpkin color. Just make sure it doesn't clash with the rest of your furniture. Good luck! 3 years ago 100% 1 Vote

Get all the materials together and have a plan of action how to do it on your own, independently, so you are showing him that you are responsible for doing this on your own. By showing him your maturity in taking this on by yourself, he will probably be more willing to allow you to do it. Plus, if you've already bought materials, it'll make it harder for him to say no! Good Luck! 4 years ago thanx hope it works…

I just finished painting my room a pale yellow a week ago. I've been sleeping in it for 4-5 days, and I have to say that I absolutly love it.I chose a chocolate brown and an antique white finish for my accent colors. It looks so pretty and open. The only advice I have for you would be to avoid too much orange or green in your yellow. If you do a yellow, it needs to be really pale. Also, make sure that your brown isn't too green, or it can make the yellow look kind of lime-ish.Good luck! 5 years ago thanks!

- Chosen by Voters Oh man that's a really cool Idea. I've wanted to do a basement room like that myself. To answer your question, check out Home Depot, Lowe's or a Sherwin Williams store. Believe it or not they have the exact matches for your favorite teams NHL, NFL, NBA and MLB. If I'm not mistaken you can even buy Logos too. How's that for good sportsmanship? I think that half and half will allow more decorating options now and in the future. Stripes will make the room appear to have taller walls. What look are you going for? Source(s): Professional interior decorator for 20 years. 4 years ago 1 person rated this as good Thanx!

Take a look at a color wheel. You can have a light color and an accent color so you and your parents are satisfied. Purples are good for relaxation. I would go with a purple. The darker you go the more light you will need in the room. You could even have one wall the dark color you want and have the other walls a lighter version. Be inspired. What things make you happy? Paint a color of your favorite flower or cd cover. You may even get a darker color (if that is what you want) by making your parents feel included
10 months ago 1 person rated this as good Thankss.. I have decided that I will paint the largest wall the darker purple and the other 3 walls lilac and the ceiling will stay white:) But you never know, I might end up changing my mind AGAIN:L
